"Every morning in Africa a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must move faster than the lion or it will not survive. Every morning a lion wakes up and it knows it must move faster than the slowest gazelle or it will starve. It doesn't matter if you are the lion or the gazelle, when the sun comes up, you better be moving." - Maurice Greene (attributed to Roger Bannister shortly after running the first sub-4 mile)
This journal is primarily for me to keep track of my progress as I build up my endurance to be able to run regularily. I will keep topics focused on my daily routine, how far I walk/run, any friends I make along the way, interesting things that happen on my excursions, and other such things. I may also include healthy recipes I enjoy and new stretches, exercises, or classes that I take that pertain to physical fitness and how that panned out. I would love to add friends to this journal who are also interested in such things and maybe we could encourage one another. The inspiration for this journal came from the recent articles in Health Magazine about their new website "Girls on the Move" pertaining to how more and more women - of ALL body shapes and types - are getting more physically active, no matter what.
A quick note: I do not believe in scales, and I am not overly concerned with my weight. I am 99.9% content with the way my body looks, but I do know that I need to be healthier and to work on my cardio and endurance. Therefore, I will not be tracking my weight or how many pounds I've lost/gained, etc. I would appreciate the same from anyone who wishes to comment on my posts.
